Thematic Questions
Why should we learn about our solar system? How has Astronomy impacted writing/reading? Activities
First, the students are going to be shown a video on the solar system. That is useful because the students can become more familiar with what it is and what we can do with the information that is received from the video by thinking about why they need to know about it or how it applies to the world they live in. This will help increase the students’ knowledge and brain storm ideas for their science fiction short stories. Then they will write down their own unique stories that include facts from the video. After that, the students will switch their stories with someone, so they can strengthen their text structure, organization and story grammar. Lastly, the papers are returned and typed unto the computer with images. Technology Integration
The computer will be used to show the video through the Internet and with the projector along with image-searching with Internet search engines, so they can enhance gathering and retelling information. The computer will also be used for the program Microsoft Word so the students can type up their short stories and insert images, and get better at their basic computer skills. |
Assessment Evaluation
There will be a rubric based on what the students should focus on in their assignments, such as evaluating the facts they’ve informed, and the correct structure, organization and grammar of writing. This will help them enhance those abilities later on. Student's Products/Portfolio
